PrintFactory: “World-Class Tools, Delivered Simply”

Asked in PrintFactory’s booth at the recent PRINTING United Expo if anything was new from the company, Simon Landau, the company’s director of global strategic partnerships, shared that the company has added a new “web-flow automation tool” to PrintFactory, its complete print software ecosystem.

The new functionality, Landau says, is PrintFactory’s answer to the need for prepress automation. Using draggable hot folders, the database driven system allows users to choose among pre-set prepress workflows, thus allowing for much more production versatility. “It’s an intermediate step between hands-on and lights-out automation,” he says, “and it’s great for repeat work, or similar product schemes,” he said.

Landau says preprint and post-print automation is becoming essential in today’s digital printing environment. “Most companies have machines that run faster they can manage. Those are the bottlenecks.”

To find solutions that promote product consistency, Landau says, is the main reason he’s seeing increasing numbers of PSPs approaching PrintFactory. “There’s a buzz in the industry – it’s why users are swapping what they have for PrintFactory. It starts making profit on day one.” PrintFactory is also a tool for controlling costs, he says, offering that its use can save on media, maximize press time, reduce labor time, and minimize waste. “It’s not just a RIP, it’s a whole production efficiency approach.”

Ease of use, Landau says, is another feature PrintFactory delivers for users. He describes its editing and layout tools as “Adobe-like,” meaning even workers coming to production straight out of school will find its functionality familiar, even comfortable. “Onboarding is super-simple,” adding that PrintFactory delivers, “world-class tools, delivered simply. You get everything up-front.”

Landau believes PrintFactory is an essential solution for today’s printing professionals: “Most of our customers have multiple challenges to try to solve – we have a powerful system in the marketplace. It’s what they’ve been looking for but can’t achieve with disparate systems.”
