AutoTran Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of inkjet printing, pad printing, screen printing, heat transfer, hot stamping and laser engraving equipment and supplies, recently launched the Eclipse CB600 UV-LED industrial inkjet printer. It features a built-in Linear CIS Scanning system that eliminates the need for jigs or fixtures by automatically detecting product orientation and positioning before printing.

Whether promotional products suppliers and decorators are printing hard goods, packaging, or custom substrates, the Eclipse CB600 is made for “continuous, round-the-clock operation with minimal maintenance,” according to AutoTran

Promo Impressions caught up with Jason Parker, vice president at AutoTran Inc., to learn more about the new printer and how AutoTran works with Counselor Top 40 Suppliers to find solutions that work for their needs.

Eclipse CB600 highlights:

  • 23.6" precision conveyor belt and Linear CIS scanning camera for product and graphic registration.
  • Automatic graphic recognition and placement based on product shape and orientation
  • Ricoh GEN6 printheads
  • Prints at 90-100 linear ft./hr.
  • Supports single and bi-directional printing
  • Jettable primer system
  • Compatible with JETbright HV and HX Digital Inks
  • Includes auto capping and cleaning system
  • Comes with RIP software and custom ICC profiles

“We've partnered with one of the Top 40 suppliers in regard to ink testing and done a good job over that time frame to pass dishwasher testing for drinkware and stainless products and coated products and powder coats and all that,” Parker shares. “We developed a very good primer system that will probably, in a way, it'll eliminate the need for Pyrosil in certain circumstances. It'll alleviate the need for a wipe-on primer, P2 primer, plastic primer; we've got solutions for [them]. We're doing a lot in our U.S.-based ink lab to create a lot of different opportunities to alleviate that operator stress."

Additionally, there’s the option to add LCLM to the CMYK printhead configuration, as well as additional white. “So again, you have the ability to do some expanding, and some speed expansion there as well,” Parker adds. “If we wanted to go individual color heads, we can go faster. So, we have different options for that.”

Asking what response has been so far, Parker says the team has run five to seven different sample jobs for some of the Top 40 suppliers in the last two months. While he says the timing has been interesting and not “one of spending for the majority of the promo market because of the tariff situation,” he anticipates as the market begins to stabilize, they’ll roll the machines out quickly.
