SpeedPro Chicago Loop — a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned business — hosted an intimate roundtable of 12 respected veterans and community leaders for a candid conversation on how to better support Chicago’s veteran population. The event hosted local veteran advocates and included an appearance from Rahm Emanuel.
During the session, attendees shared firsthand experiences navigating the transition from military service to civilian life, and explored gaps in current support structures. They also discussed challenges within the military’s transition programs, and the widespread lack of awareness around VA resources, an issue that prevents many veterans from accessing the benefits they’ve earned. Participants also discussed the role that not-for-profit organizations and local businesses can play in bridging these gaps and strengthening Chicago’s veteran support ecosystem.
"Having Ambassador Emanuel spend time with this group of Veterans to discuss the resilience and dedication needed to successfully transition was amazing. A Veteran-owned business like SpeedPro was the perfect backdrop for this discussion," said Victor J. LaGroon, a veteran and Founder and Principal Consultant of Hewlett Consulting & Solutions.
For SpeedPro Chicago Loop, hosting this roundtable reflects its continued commitment to championing the veteran community and fostering meaningful dialogue that can spark real change. As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned business, the studio is proud to create space for these conversations and help elevate the voices of those who have served.
