HP Latex technology takes patients into a world of light and color of Nixi for Children to help reduce children’s anxiety in the hospital environment.
In a joint effort to humanize the pediatric hospital experience, HP (PRINTING United Expo booth #4249) has collaborated with Hospital Germans Trias and Nixi for Children to transform the pediatric preoperative area of the health center. The aim is to reduce the anxiety experienced by children and their families before a surgical procedure through technology, emotional design, and innovation.
Thanks to HP Latex printing technology, large-format illustrated vinyl graphics have been created and installed in the preoperative waiting room and the hallway leading to the operating room, transforming a clinical environment into a space full of light and color—more welcoming and comforting for young patients. These illustrations turn the surgical waiting room into a place where children can feel calmer and accompanied.

“Innovation truly makes sense when it improves people’s lives. This project is a great example of how we can contribute to creating more human and empathetic environments, capable of transforming the mood of these little heroes and their families,” said Daniel Martinez, Global Head and General Manager, HP Large Format Business. “We are especially proud to have participated in this initiative, which not only seeks to support children in such delicate situations, but also demonstrates that innovation can and should have a social purpose. It is exciting to see how technology, from a sustainable perspective, can transform the hospital environment into a space filled with light, color, and hope.”
Safe, Respectful Technology for Sensitive Spaces
The vinyls were printed with the HP Latex 2700 W printer, using our latest generation of HP Latex inks, which are water-based. This guarantees printing on safe, odorless materials with low emissions of volatile organic compounds, meeting the highest healthcare standards. These features make them ideal for use in hospitals and other sensitive environments.
In this collaboration, HP provided the inks, substrates, and installation, reaffirming its commitment to social responsibility and the humanization of healthcare spaces. Printing was carried out by ALIUM, an HP customer equipped with fourth-generation HP Latex printers.
In addition to its visual and emotional impact, this project highlights HP’s strong commitment to sustainability. HP Latex water-based inks have proven to be the ideal choice for environments as sensitive as a hospital thanks to their odorless composition and low emissions, ensuring the safety of patients and healthcare staff. These inks hold key certifications such as UL ECOLOGO® and GREENGUARD GOLD (allowing unrestricted decoration of the entire room), which certify that the products meet low chemical emissions standards for indoor environments and comply with strict environmental performance and human health criteria. This commitment to sustainable and responsible solutions reaffirms HP’s leadership in delivering environmentally friendly technology without compromising print quality, durability, or consistency.
This initiative is complemented by Nixi for Children, which uses virtual reality glasses and a guide character—Nixi—to accompany children during their hospital stay. This character has proven to be an effective tool for reducing anxiety in children undergoing surgery or treatments such as radiotherapy; by helping them understand the process they are about to experience in a close and friendly way.
With initiatives like this, HP continues to demonstrate that technology can play an essential role in improving the pediatric hospital experience, putting innovation at the service of people and the emotional care of children.
